How it works
SideDisplay turns your Tesla's built-in browser into a wireless second display. No installs on either side.
1. Start sharing on your laptop
Open SideDisplay, click Start sharing, and pick a window, tab, or full screen to mirror.
2. Get the room code
A 6-character code appears on your laptop. It's unique to this session.
3. Open /view on your Tesla
Open the Tesla browser, go to this site's /view page, and type the code.
4. Peer-to-peer stream
Your laptop and Tesla negotiate a direct WebRTC connection. Video flows between the two devices — not through our servers.
Privacy
We only relay tiny connection-setup messages (SDP/ICE). The video itself never touches our infrastructure, and codes expire quickly.
Only use while parked.
SideDisplay is for entertainment while stopped. Don't interact with screens while driving.
FAQ
- Does it work on every Tesla?
- Any Tesla with the built-in Chromium-based browser (Model S/3/X/Y from recent years) supports WebRTC and H.264 video.
- My connection fails — why?
- Some restrictive networks (corporate Wi-Fi, carrier-grade NAT) block peer-to-peer connections. Try a hotspot from your phone.
- Is audio supported?
- Not in this version — video only.
